26 ALL INDIA POLICE shooting (aipdm) competition

HISTORY OF ALL INDIA POLICE SHOOTING (AIPDM) COMPETITION
The All India Rifle and Revolver Shooting Competition was started in 1953 and has gradually grown to form All India Police Duty Meet covering various aspects of investigation, band competition, etc. With the passage of time, the number of participants increased manifold and it became difficult to organise All India Police Duty Meet consisting of various events. Therefore, in a joint meeting of the All India Police Sports Control Board and All India Police Duty Meet held on October 28, 1999 in Delhi, the above competition was split into three parts viz.
Shooting competition
Band competition
Competition in Scientific Aids to Investigation
In 1995, the Rules and regulations governing the Rifle and Revolver/ Pistol Shooting Competition were amended to give it a combat form which was initiated by the then DIG Tr. K.Vijay Kumar, IPS, Tamil Nadu and the first competition as per the new rules was organized by the ITBP in 1995 at Bhanu, Haryana.
In May 2010, a technical Expert Committee under the Chairmanship of Shri T.S. Dhilon, former International shooter and qualified ISSF “A” Grade Judge and IGP (retired from CRPF) was formed to collate, review and streamline the rules of All India Police Rifle & Revolver/Pistol Shooting Competition from time to time. Efforts have been made to render the rules and conditions of the competitions free form ambiguity for fair and transparent competition.
